What is Pokemon Stadium on Nintendo Switch?
Pokemon Stadium first launched in 1999 is a game that focuses solely on battling and unlike mainline Pokemon games does not feature RPG elements or a plot .
The game allows players to battle with their team of six Pokemon in four tournaments in Stadium mode or against Kanto’s elite trainers in Gym Leader Castle. Winning in either of these modes will earn players a spot in Victory Palace, but completing both unlocks a final battle to challenge the ultimate trainer.
Additionally, the game offers multiplayer free-form battles with friends in Free Battle mode and nine minigames in the Kids Club. The minigames are challenging even for experienced trainers and include games like Sushi-Go-Round, Magikarp’s Splash, Clefairy Says, and Ekans’ Hoop Hurl.
The Nintendo Switch version includes online multiplayer capabilities and all 151 Pokemon from the Red/Blue/Yellow era. The game has been added to the Nintendo Switch Online’s Nintendo 64 library and future releases include Pokemon Stadium 2, 1080 Snowboarding, and Excitebike 64.
